The ComboTutors Method™
Every IGCSE student gets a personalised learning plan built around their specific syllabus, weak areas, and target grade. Whether they're on Core or Extended, Cambridge or Edexcel — we tailor every session to what they actually need.
Progress You Can Actually See
After every session you'll receive a clear summary of what was covered and what to work on next. We track scores over time so you're never left wondering whether tutoring is making a difference — you'll see it in the numbers.
Grade Improvement Guarantee
We're confident in our tutors. If your child doesn't improve by at least one grade after a full term of regular sessions, we'll provide additional sessions completely free. That's how much we stand behind the quality of our teaching.
Cambridge & Edexcel Specialists
Our tutors don't just know the subject — they know the mark schemes. Many are former or current examiners for Cambridge CIE and Edexcel. They teach your child exactly what the examiner is looking for, not just the textbook answer.
Flexible Global Scheduling

What Parents & Students Say
“We'd just moved from India and my son was struggling with the switch to IGCSE. The curriculum was completely different to what he was used to under CBSE. His ComboTutors tutor helped him bridge the gaps in Maths and Science within the first few weeks, and by the end of Year 10, he was on track for A grades. The transition support was exactly what we needed.”
Priya & Suresh M.
Parents of Year 10 IGCSE Student“I was stuck on the Core paper for IGCSE Maths and my school said I couldn't switch to Extended. My tutor disagreed — she worked through every gap methodically and proved I could handle it. I moved to Extended in January and got a B in the June exams. Without her, I'd have been capped at a C.”
Zara K.
IGCSE Mathematics Student“Our daughter was taking nine IGCSEs and was completely overwhelmed by Year 11. Her Chemistry tutor didn't just teach her the content — he taught her how to manage her revision across all subjects and prioritise the topics that carry the most marks. She ended up with three A*s and four As. We're incredibly grateful.”

Parents of Year 11 StudentIGCSE Tutoring That's Built Around Your Child
The IGCSE is the world's most popular international qualification for 14 to 16-year-olds. According to Cambridge Assessment International Education (2024), over 680,000 students sit Cambridge IGCSE exams across 149 countries each year.
The challenge is that students typically take 7 to 9 subjects simultaneously — often their first experience of sustained academic pressure. Research from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) shows that one-on-one tutoring produces an average of five months of additional progress.
At ComboTutors, every IGCSE student starts with a free consultation where we assess their current level, identify the specific gaps, and build a personalised study plan.

Common
Questions.
The ideal time is the beginning of Year 10, when the IGCSE syllabus formally starts. This gives 18–24 months to build strong foundations and address weak areas before they compound. That said, we regularly help Year 11 students who come to us after disappointing mocks — even a few months of focused work can shift a grade. If your child's school starts IGCSE content in Year 9, starting tutoring then is even better.
Core papers cover the foundational content and cap at a grade C (or grade 4 in the 9–1 system). Extended papers include all the Core content plus additional topics at greater depth, giving access to grades A*–E. The decision matters — a student on the Core paper literally cannot achieve above a C, regardless of how well they perform. If your child is aiming for A-Levels or the IB, Extended is almost always the right choice, and our tutors can help them get there.
The two qualifications are broadly comparable, and universities treat them as equivalent. IGCSE Mathematics and Sciences are often considered slightly more rigorous, particularly at Extended level, while GCSE English requires more UK-specific literary texts. The main difference is focus: IGCSE uses internationally framed content and case studies, while GCSE is UK-centric. Our tutors are experienced with both and can help students transitioning between the two systems.
Absolutely. We have specialist tutors for both Cambridge International (CIE) and Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs. The two boards have different exam structures, grading systems, and question styles, so board-specific preparation matters. During your free consultation, we'll match your child with a tutor who knows their exact syllabus inside out.
For general support and staying on track, one hour per week per subject is usually enough. If they're trying to close a significant gap or preparing intensively for exams, we'd recommend 1.5 to 2 hours per week. Students taking 7–9 subjects often benefit from focusing tutoring on their 2–3 weakest subjects rather than spreading it thin. We'll advise on the best approach during your consultation.
Yes — this is one of our specialities. Many of our students are expat or international families whose children are transitioning from CBSE, American, MYP, or local curricula to IGCSE. The adjustment can be significant, particularly in exam technique and assessment style. Our tutors identify the gaps quickly and build a structured plan to get your child up to speed.
