Algebra
linear equations, linear functions, systems, inequalities and equations in one or two variables
Prepare for the Digital SAT with a tutor matched to your current score, target score, test date and weaker areas in Math or Reading and Writing.
Lessons can focus on the question types costing you the most points, official practice-test review, timing and targeted skill development.
From $15 USD/hour. Free 30-minute trial.
SAT preparation works best when the student knows where marks are being lost. Your tutor can review a recent SAT or PSAT score, Bluebook practice test or other recent practice work to identify recurring weaknesses.
The aim is to give the student a clear set of priorities rather than repeating topics they already understand.
| Section | Questions | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Reading and Writing | 54 | 64 minutes |
| Math | 44 | 70 minutes |
| Total | 98 | 2 hours 14 minutes |
Each section contains two modules. The second module is selected partly according to performance in the first module, with a 10-minute break between Reading and Writing and Math.
Tutoring can focus on the exact content domains where the student is losing marks.
linear equations, linear functions, systems, inequalities and equations in one or two variables
quadratics, polynomials, exponential relationships, nonlinear functions and equivalent expressions
ratios, rates, percentages, probability, data, scatterplots, statistics and proportional relationships
area, volume, angles, triangles, right triangles, trigonometry and circles
Lessons can also address worded questions, calculator use, student-produced responses and timing.
Tutoring can focus on the specific skills behind the four Reading and Writing domains.
Students may work on central ideas, inference, evidence, vocabulary in context, text structure, author purpose, rhetorical synthesis, transitions, grammar, punctuation and sentence boundaries. Recent practice results should determine where lesson time is spent.
The Digital SAT uses multistage adaptive testing. Preparation should focus on knowing the content and answering accurately under test conditions.
Students can prepare using official full-length SAT practice tests in Bluebook, College Board's digital testing application. A tutor can use results to identify weaker domains, repeated mistakes, pacing problems and difficult question types. Combo tutoring should work alongside official resources rather than replacing them.
