They are different types of challenge. Physics requires strong mathematical skills alongside conceptual understanding and the ability to apply both to unfamiliar problems. Students who enjoy applying maths to real-world problems typically find Physics very rewarding.
Further Maths is not required but is beneficial for students heading toward Engineering, Physics, or Astrophysics at university. The overlap between Further Maths and the hardest A-Level Physics questions (particularly in SHM, fields, and circular motion) is significant.
Practical skills are assessed in two ways: a school-assessed practical endorsement (separate from the grade) and questions in the written papers. Paper 3 (AQA) or equivalent specifically tests planning, data analysis, uncertainty, and evaluation. We cover all of these in sessions.
