There is no IB World School on Muharraq island itself. IB Diploma Physics students commute via the King Faisal Highway to Ibn Khuldoon National School in Isa Town or to Riffa Views International — a 25-to-35 minute drive that compounds during morning rush at the causeway. Some Sacred Heart Muharraq graduates also bridge into the IB at IKNS for Sixth Form. Many of these families are Gulf Air aviation households or Bahraini professionals working in Hidd's industrial corridor (ALBA aluminium, Hidd Power & Water Station). HL Physics demands tight IA, TOK and EE coordination that the daily commute makes brutal — by the time a student crosses back to Old Muharraq or Busaiteen, energy for IA drafting is gone. Our Muharraq IB DP Physics tutors are matched to IKNS or Riffa Views cohorts, work in Bahrain time around the May exam window, Ramadan shortened timetables and Eid, and build IA exemplars and EE feedback into a weekly cadence that respects the off-island school run.
Exam boards we cover
HL Physics is the standard route for Ibn Khuldoon National School (Isa Town) and Riffa Views International — commuted to from Muharraq via the King Faisal Highway students targeting top medicine, engineering or quantitative university courses. Heavier content and a more demanding internal assessment.
SL Physics suits Muharraq Diploma students keeping a balanced six-subject load. Same internal assessment framework, lighter syllabus depth.
Syllabus coverage
Our IB Physics tutors cover the full specification with extra depth on the topics where Muharraq students most consistently lose marks.
Kinematics, Newton's laws, momentum and energy.
Ideal gases, thermodynamics and entropy.
SHM, wave behaviour, standing waves and Doppler effect.
Fields, circuits, electromagnetic induction and AC.
Atomic models, radioactivity, fission and fusion.
Power generation, efficiency and environmental impact.
Research question, methodology, uncertainties and evaluation.
IB Paper 1, 2 and 3 mark-scheme drilling.

What we fix
How we fix it:Students commuting from Old Muharraq, Arad, Busaiteen or Diyar Al Muharraq to St Christopher's Saar, BSB Hamala, IKNS Isa Town or Bahrain School Juffair already lose 60-120 minutes a day on the causeway. Online Physics sessions remove the second journey — we schedule straight after the school-run return so the tutor is in the room when the student gets home.
How we fix it:On-island options are essentially Sacred Heart Muharraq (Cambridge), Indian School Bahrain Muharraq (CBSE/IGCSE) and Pakistan Urdu School plus the BQA-regulated state secondaries. Specialist Physics tutors at A-Level/IB/AP depth do not exist locally. We match online to UK, US or examiner-trained specialists by board.
How we fix it:Gulf Air HQ is on Muharraq island and a large share of expat parents fly irregular rosters out of Bahrain International Airport. Physics sessions are rescheduled around layovers, with weekly progress notes sent to whichever parent is on the ground.
How we fix it:Sacred Heart, Indian School Muharraq and the mainland commuter schools all run roughly 3-hour shortened Ramadan school days, with Eid pause. We back-plan Physics into post-iftar evening slots so Muharraq students keep momentum through fasting and the holiday week.
How we fix it:January-February mocks at St Christopher's Saar and BSB Hamala collide with the daily causeway commute. We run a 6-8 week timed past-paper and mark-scheme block in Physics so commuting Muharraq students walk in with full paper stamina.
Why Combo Tutors
Muharraq families to St Christopher's Saar, BSB Hamala, IKNS Isa Town or Bahrain School Juffair already burn 1-2 hours a day on King Faisal Highway. Online Physics tutoring in Bahrain time means no second causeway crossing — the tutor is waiting when your child gets home.
We match by board AND school: St Christopher's Saar gets a Cambridge specialist; BSB Hamala gets a CIE/Edexcel specialist; IKNS gets an IB DP specialist; Bahrain School Juffair gets an American-curriculum tutor; Sacred Heart Muharraq gets a Cambridge IGCSE Physics examiner. Never a generic lesson.
With Gulf Air HQ on Muharraq, irregular pilot and cabin-crew rosters are the norm. Physics sessions reschedule around layovers, run in Bahrain time around Ramadan, Eid and Bahrain National Day, with weekly progress notes to the parent on the ground.

IB Physics - commuting from Muharraq (Arad) to St Christopher's School Saar
My son was commuting from Arad to St Christopher's Saar every morning and getting home too tired for Physics. Moving online killed the second journey — he jumped from a C to an A in his IB mocks.
Mrs Priya Menon
IB Physics HL - commuting from Diyar Al Muharraq to Ibn Khuldoon National School (Isa Town)
We are a Gulf Air family — my husband flies long-haul out of Bahrain International. Our tutor reschedules Physics around his roster without us having to chase. My daughter at IKNS Isa Town is on track for her HL IB Physics target.
Mr Faisal Al-Khoori
IB Physics - Sacred Heart School Muharraq (Old Muharraq)
Sacred Heart Muharraq is a 10-minute walk for us but the specialist Physics support at the top end just isn't on the island. Combo Tutors matched my daughter to a Cambridge examiner — she finished IGCSE Physics with an A*.

My daughter was struggling with IB Mathematics HL and had almost given up hope of getting a 7. After just two months of weekly sessions with her Combo Tutors tutor, her confidence soared and she went from a predicted 4 to a final grade of 6. The personalised approach made all the difference—her tutor identified exactly where the gaps were and worked through them systematically.
James P.
Parent of A-Level Student · Manchester
My son started tutoring for A-Level Physics about three months before his exams. His tutor was incredibly patient and broke down complex topics like electromagnetic induction into simple, intuitive steps. He ended up getting an A* which we genuinely didn't think was possible. I'd recommend Combo Tutors to any parent who wants a tutor that actually cares about your child's progress.
Priya K.
Parent of GCSE Student · Birmingham
We needed help with GCSE Science for my son who found chemistry particularly challenging. His tutor made the sessions engaging and relatable—using real-world examples that finally made reactions and bonding click for him. He improved by two grades and, more importantly, actually enjoys science now.
IB Physics in Muharraq
The standard commuter route from Muharraq is via the King Faisal Highway to St Christopher's School (Saar campus, ~25 min) and British School of Bahrain (Hamala, ~30 min) for Cambridge/Edexcel IB Physics; Ibn Khuldoon National School (Isa Town, ~25 min) for IB; and Bahrain School DODEA (Juffair, ~15 min via the causeway) for AP. We match the tutor to your child's exact school cohort.
Yes. Sacred Heart School Muharraq runs Cambridge IGCSE and we match a Cambridge Physics specialist to that scheme of work. Indian School Bahrain's Muharraq branch runs CBSE with an IGCSE pathway — we cover both. Pakistan Urdu School Muharraq (Federal Board) is also supported.
Gulf Air HQ is on Muharraq and roster patterns are unpredictable. IB Physics sessions are booked weekly but can be moved with 24 hours' notice around layovers out of Bahrain International Airport. Weekly progress notes go to whichever parent is on the ground.
Yes — that is the central reason Muharraq families go online. Sessions schedule straight after the causeway commute home from St Christopher's Saar, BSB Hamala, IKNS Isa Town or Bahrain School Juffair, in Bahrain time (AST, GMT+3) including evening slots after iftar in Ramadan.
Muharraq schools shift to a ~3-hour shortened school day during Ramadan, pause for Eid and observe Bahrain National Day on 16 December. IB Physics sessions reschedule into post-iftar evening slots and we back-plan past-paper coverage so the calendar never costs an exam-prep week.
