AP Physics in Kowloon Tong concentrates at the American International School (AIS) in Shek Kip Mei and Australian International School Hong Kong (AISHK) on Norman Road — AISHK uniquely runs AP CollegeBoard alongside the Australian HSC and IB DP, giving families a dual-track US/AU/IB choice rare in Hong Kong. The College Board May exam window clashes with the Lunar New Year revision break and AISHK end-of-year assessment. Families choose AP Physics specifically for US-track Common App applications (November EA/ED, January RD) targeting Stanford, MIT, Ivy League and UC Berkeley, often in parallel with non-JUPAS submissions to City University of Hong Kong (CityU) at Kowloon Tong's doorstep. The bottleneck is that AP-experienced tutors are scarce in Kowloon Tong — the dense local market pushes HKDSE prep at DBS, La Salle and Maryknoll instead. Our AP Physics tutors are US-trained, College Board-certified, drill MCQ and FRQ to the official rubric, and run sessions in HKT around the AIS/AISHK calendar.
Tell us what your child needs and we'll match a UK-qualified Physics specialist in Kowloon Tong within 24 hours.

What we fix
How we fix it:DBS on the Mong Kok border runs HKDSE plus a Cambridge IGCSE option with internal mocks tightly clustered in January/February; AISHK on Norman Road runs Australian HSC + AP + IB DP mocks across the same window. We build a 6-8 week Physics mock-prep block of timed past papers and mark-scheme drills, matched to the exact board the student sits.
How we fix it:MTR Kowloon Tong is a major Tung Chung Line ↔ East Rail Line interchange, drawing students into the district from across HK and the New Territories. Long commutes eat into Physics revision time. All Combo Tutors lessons are online 1-to-1 in HKT — no extra travel after a full school day at DBS, La Salle, Maryknoll, AISHK or YCIS.
How we fix it:Kowloon Tong elite schools — DBS, La Salle College, Maryknoll Convent and Heep Yunn — offer HKDSE alongside Cambridge IGCSE/A-Level options. We advise Y9/Y10 families on the Physics content overlap, the EDB-recognised JUPAS vs non-JUPAS routes to HKU/CUHK/HKUST/CityU, and how each pathway maps to UCAS and Common App applications.
How we fix it:City University of Hong Kong's main campus sits at Kowloon Tong, intensifying academic pressure on local families. Students apply in parallel to CityU (JUPAS for HKDSE, non-JUPAS for IGCSE/A-Level/IB/AP), HKU, CUHK and HKUST, plus UCAS (Dec/Jan) and Common App (Nov/Jan). Our Physics tutors prep subject content alongside admissions tests (TMUA, MAT) and interview practice.
How we fix it:Kowloon Tong schools shut for 7-10 days around Lunar New Year, colliding with January mocks at DBS, La Salle, AISHK and YCIS and the Y12 IB IA submission window. We pre-load Physics content before CNY, run optional intensive sessions during the break, and resume with timed past-paper work the week schools reopen.
Why Combo Tutors
Diocesan Boys' School runs HKDSE with a Cambridge IGCSE option — a dual-track that demands tutors who know both syllabi. Our DBS Physics tutors are matched to the exact board the student sits, drill past papers, and prep CityU/HKU non-JUPAS plus UCAS in parallel.
Australian International School Hong Kong uniquely runs the Australian HSC, AP CollegeBoard and IB DP under one roof. Our AISHK Physics tutors are College Board-certified or IB examiners matched to the chosen track, drilling MCQ/FRQ for AP and Paper 1/2/3 for IB to the official rubric.
Yew Chung International School Kowloon on Somerset Road runs Cambridge IGCSE feeding IB DP HL/SL. Our YCIS Physics tutors are IB examiners, turn around IAs inside 48 hours, and prep CityU (next door at Kowloon Tong), HKU, Oxbridge and Ivy League admissions in parallel.
Mrs Wong Mei-Ling, parent (Kowloon Tong)
AP Physics HL — Australian International School Hong Kong (AISHK), Norman Road — CityU offer
My son was predicted a 6 in HL Physics at AISHK and the tutor walked him through every Paper 3 question type. He sat the May session and got a 7, plus a CityU computer science offer down the road.
Mr Suresh Iyer, Indian expat (Kowloon Tong)
AP Physics — Yew Chung International School (YCIS Kowloon), Somerset Road — HKU offer
We tried two Kowloon Tong agencies before Combo Tutors. The difference was examiner-level insight on Physics mark schemes — and the tutor coordinated around the Lunar New Year break for the YCIS Kowloon mocks.
Anthony C., Diocesan Boys' School Year 13 (Kowloon Tong)
AP Physics — Diocesan Boys' School (DBS), Mong Kok border — Oxford offer
Tutor knew the DBS Cambridge IGCSE option inside out — every past paper, every mark scheme. Physics jumped from a Grade 6 mock to a Grade 9 in the final, and I landed an Oxford engineering offer.

My daughter was struggling with IB Mathematics HL and had almost given up hope of getting a 7. After just two months of weekly sessions with her Combo Tutors tutor, her confidence soared and she went from a predicted 4 to a final grade of 6. The personalised approach made all the difference—her tutor identified exactly where the gaps were and worked through them systematically.

Parent of A-Level Student · Manchester
My son started tutoring for A-Level Physics about three months before his exams. His tutor was incredibly patient and broke down complex topics like electromagnetic induction into simple, intuitive steps. He ended up getting an A* which we genuinely didn't think was possible. I'd recommend Combo Tutors to any parent who wants a tutor that actually cares about your child's progress.

We needed help with GCSE Science for my son who found chemistry particularly challenging. His tutor made the sessions engaging and relatable—using real-world examples that finally made reactions and bonding click for him. He improved by two grades and, more importantly, actually enjoys science now.
