AP in Sha Tin is concentrated almost entirely at International Christian School (ICS) Shek Mun — an American-curriculum K-12 school running College Board AP across STEM and humanities alongside the IB Diploma — plus a steady cohort of HKSTP-family self-study candidates, AISHK boarders and Renaissance College Y12-Y13 students taking AP as a US-application hedge. AP Computer Science in Sha Tin is judged against a global pool: HKUST-bound students sit AP to back up applications to MIT, Caltech and the Ivy League STEM departments, while CUHK Medicine and CUHK Global Business Studies applicants use AP scores to differentiate from JUPAS-only peers. The biggest gap for Sha Tin AP families is the May exam window colliding with ICS internal finals plus the genuine scarcity of in-territory examiner-trained AP tutors, especially in HL-equivalent STEM. Our Sha Tin AP Computer Science tutors are CollegeBoard-aligned, FRQ-drilled and matched to the exact 2026 AP syllabus and rubric.

What we fix
How we fix it:Sha Tin College (ESF) front-loads IA drafts in Y12 Term 3 and the Extended Essay through Y13 Term 1, with the May 15 IBO submission window non-negotiable. We back-plan Computer Science sessions from the IBO deadline backwards so Sha Tin College DP students protect Paper 1/2/3 revision in March-April.
How we fix it:International Christian School (ICS) Shek Mun runs AP exams in the standard CollegeBoard May window, which collides with ICS senior internal finals. We run an 8-10 week AP Computer Science block of FRQ drills and full-paper timing aligned to the ICS calendar.
How we fix it:Sha Tin students applying through JUPAS to CUHK or HKUST need top-band HKDSE or IB grades plus interview readiness in Computer Science. Our tutors brief Sha Tin candidates on CUHK Engineering/Medicine and HKUST School of Science interview style.
How we fix it:Many Sha Tin parents are HKSTP scientists or CUHK academics who expect HL/A-Level Computer Science at 7/A*. We run a tight 7-10 day Lunar New Year revision block in late January/early February so Sha Tin students return to school post-CNY with mock-ready Computer Science.

Mrs Lam Yuk-Mei, parent
AP Computer Science · Sha Tin College (ESF) · daughter now reading Engineering at CUHK
My daughter went from a 5 in her Y12 mock to a 7 in the May Computer Science exam. The tutor knew Sha Tin College's IA standards and the CUHK Engineering interview line of questioning.
Mr Daniel Park, parent
AP Computer Science · International Christian School (ICS) Shek Mun · son now at HKUST
We moved from Seoul to Sha Tin in Y11. ICS Shek Mun's AP pace hit hard, but the Computer Science FRQ work fixed it before the May papers.
Dr Aditi Kumar, parent (HKSTP scientist)
AP Computer Science · Renaissance College Hong Kong (ESF, Ma On Shan) · daughter targeting Imperial College
As a HKSTP researcher I had high expectations. The Paper 3 timing and EE supervision on Computer Science were the level I'd want from a CUHK lab.
Sophie C., Sha Tin College Year 13
AP Computer Science · Sha Tin College (ESF) · accepted to HKUST Science
The Lunar New Year revision block was the difference. I came back to Sha Tin College in February mock-ready on Computer Science.
Sarah M.
Parent of IB Student · London
My daughter was struggling with IB Mathematics HL and had almost given up hope of getting a 7. After just two months of weekly sessions with her Combo Tutors tutor, her confidence soared and she went from a predicted 4 to a final grade of 6. The personalised approach made all the difference—her tutor identified exactly where the gaps were and worked through them systematically.
James P.
Parent of A-Level Student · Manchester
My son started tutoring for A-Level Physics about three months before his exams. His tutor was incredibly patient and broke down complex topics like electromagnetic induction into simple, intuitive steps. He ended up getting an A* which we genuinely didn't think was possible. I'd recommend Combo Tutors to any parent who wants a tutor that actually cares about your child's progress.
