Salwa's IB Diploma anchor is the British School of Kuwait (BSK), one of the few Outstanding-rated BSO schools in Kuwait running IB DP alongside Cambridge A-Level — a dual-pathway model that lets Salwa Year 11 students choose between linear A-Level and IB DP HL/SL Mathematics. Al Bayan Bilingual School (BBS), a short drive from Salwa into the Hawally border, has run IB DP for over a decade and is the established bilingual DP school in Kuwait. Kuwait Bilingual School (KBS) on the Mishref border adds further DP capacity. IB DP HL Mathematics demands a tutor who knows the syllabus AND the IA, EE and TOK calendar — Salwa parents tell us their child handles content well but loses marks on IA criterion alignment and Paper 3 structure. Our Salwa IB Mathematics tutors are matched by BSK or BBS scheme, HL/SL track, and the May exam timeline, around the villa-residential after-school schedule.
Exam boards we cover
HL Mathematics is the standard route for British School of Kuwait (BSK) Salwa, Al Bayan Bilingual School (BBS) Hawally border and Kuwait Bilingual School (KBS) Mishref border students targeting top medicine, engineering or quantitative university courses. Heavier content and a more demanding internal assessment.
SL Mathematics suits Salwa Diploma students keeping a balanced six-subject load. Same internal assessment framework, lighter syllabus depth.
Syllabus coverage
Our IB Mathematics tutors cover the full specification with extra depth on the topics where Salwa students most consistently lose marks.
Sequences, series, exponentials, logs and binomial theorem.
Domain, range, composition, inverses and transformations.
Vectors, 3D geometry, trig identities and equations.
Differentiation, integration, optimisation and differential equations.
Discrete and continuous distributions, regression and hypothesis testing.
Analysis & Approaches vs Applications & Interpretation — calculator vs non-calculator focus.
Topic choice, mathematical exploration and write-up to top-band criteria.
IB Paper 1, 2 and 3 mark-scheme drilling.

What we fix
How we fix it:British School of Kuwait runs an intense November and February Mock Week alongside IB IA and EE drafts. We back-plan a 6-week Mathematics block of timed past papers, mark-scheme drills and IA criterion review against the BSK calendar.
How we fix it:The American International School (AIS) Salwa AP cohort sits its CollegeBoard window in early May — often colliding with Ramadan in some years. We run a 10-week Mathematics FRQ + MCQ block ending one week before the AP date, with CED-aligned topic sequencing.
How we fix it:Salwa schools shift to a Kuwait MoE-mandated ~3-hour Ramadan timetable, then pause for Kuwait National Day (25 Feb) and Liberation Day (26 Feb), then Eid Al-Fitr/Adha. We rebuild the Mathematics schedule around the shifted day and resume intensive work in the post-Eid window.
How we fix it:Many Salwa villa-residential families have one child on BSK Cambridge/IB DP and another at AIS on AP, or a third commuting to NES Salmiya. We hold separate Mathematics progress notes per child, per board, and coordinate tutor matching so each sibling has a specialist for their exact exam route.
Why Combo Tutors
The British School of Kuwait is one of the few Outstanding-rated BSO schools in Kuwait running Cambridge A-Level and IB DP side by side. Our Salwa Mathematics tutors are matched specifically to the BSK pathway your child sits — Cambridge 9709-series or IB DP HL/SL — never a generic British-curriculum match.
The American International School (AIS) Salwa and American School of Kuwait (ASK) are the two CollegeBoard AP anchors for Salwa families. Our AP Mathematics tutors are CED-aligned, FRQ-trained, and used to the May exam window pressure that AIS and ASK students face.
Salwa runs on a quieter villa-residential rhythm than Salmiya — late afternoon sports, family diwaniyas, expat dinners. We schedule Mathematics lessons in Kuwait time (AST, GMT+3) around BSK's 15:00 finish, the AIS calendar, Ramadan ~3-hour days, Liberation Day and Kuwait National Day.
Mrs Hessa Al-Mutairi
IB Mathematics — British School of Kuwait (BSK), Salwa Block 11
My son at BSK was strong on content but lost marks on Cambridge Mathematics Paper 2 application questions. His Combo Tutors tutor was an ex-CIE examiner — three months later he came out of Mock Week two grades higher.
Mr Kamel Habib
IB Mathematics — American International School (AIS) Salwa + Al Bayan Bilingual School (BBS)
We split our two children between AIS Salwa AP and BBS IB DP. Combo Tutors gave us one tutor per pathway for Mathematics — they coordinated the schedule around our Salwa villa-residential evenings and the Ramadan shifted timetable.
Khalifa R., BSK Year 13
IB Mathematics — British School of Kuwait (BSK) IB DP, Salwa
Khalifa was on the IB DP HL Mathematics track at BSK and the IA was the bottleneck. His Combo Tutors IB tutor rebuilt the IA against the criteria and walked him through Paper 3 line by line.

My daughter was struggling with IB Mathematics HL and had almost given up hope of getting a 7. After just two months of weekly sessions with her Combo Tutors tutor, her confidence soared and she went from a predicted 4 to a final grade of 6. The personalised approach made all the difference—her tutor identified exactly where the gaps were and worked through them systematically.

My son started tutoring for A-Level Physics about three months before his exams. His tutor was incredibly patient and broke down complex topics like electromagnetic induction into simple, intuitive steps. He ended up getting an A* which we genuinely didn't think was possible. I'd recommend Combo Tutors to any parent who wants a tutor that actually cares about your child's progress.

We needed help with GCSE Science for my son who found chemistry particularly challenging. His tutor made the sessions engaging and relatable—using real-world examples that finally made reactions and bonding click for him. He improved by two grades and, more importantly, actually enjoys science now.
