AP candidates from Sohar are almost entirely self-study or hybrid — there is no large established AP-centre school in Sohar itself, so families at Sohar International School (SISO), Cambridge School Sohar, Indian School Sohar and MKS Sohar typically sit AP Biology alongside their main Cambridge / CBSE programme to strengthen US applications. With Sohar Industrial Port engineering employers (Sohar Aluminium, Vale Oman, Sohar Refinery & Petrochemical) sending many children of expat technical staff to US engineering schools, AP Biology has become a strategic add-on for Sohar Batinah families who do not want to give up their primary Cambridge pathway to SQU or Sohar University. Because Sohar is ~240km from Muscat, an in-person College Board specialist is effectively unavailable locally. Our online AP Biology tutors work directly from College Board CED documents, time multiple-choice and FRQ drills to Oman time, and align May-sitting prep with Ramadan and Sohar mock-week schedules.
Tell us what your child needs and we'll match a UK-qualified Biology specialist in Sohar within 24 hours.

What we fix
How we fix it:Vale Oman, Sohar Aluminium and Sohar Refinery families consistently push for SQU / Sohar University / UK Russell Group / Indian IIT engineering routes — we anchor every Biology session to that pathway, with topic priority on the strands those admissions weight hardest.
How we fix it:Sohar International School and Cambridge School Sohar cluster Biology mocks in January-February. We run a 6–8 week mock-prep block of timed past papers matched to each school's scheme of work and marking style.
How we fix it:The Batinah coast highway puts Sohar ~2.5 hours from Muscat — weekly in-person Biology commutes are not realistic. Online 1-to-1 opens the full Muscat / UK / India examiner pool to Sohar families on Oman time.
How we fix it:Sohar schools shift to ~3-hour days during Ramadan, then lose days around Eid Al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha, Renaissance Day (23 July) and Oman National Day (18 November). We back-plan Biology sessions so coverage does not slip before mocks or the May / June sitting.
How we fix it:Different destinations weight Biology grades differently — SQU and Sohar University look at predicted grades early, Russell Group needs UCAS predictions, IITs need JEE-parallel depth. We map every Sohar student's Biology plan to their actual target pathway, not a generic syllabus tick-list.
Why Combo Tutors
Every Sohar Biology tutor is matched to your child's actual school — Sohar International School (SISO) Cambridge, Cambridge School Sohar, Modern Knowledge Schools Sohar or Indian School Sohar CBSE / IGCSE — so lessons reinforce the exact paper, tier and pacing their classroom teacher is using.
Sohar is ~240km from Muscat, so the in-person Biology specialist pool is thin. Online 1-to-1 gives Batinah families direct access to Muscat-grade, UK examiner-level and Indian IIT-trained tutors, with no Batinah-coast commute and full Oman-time scheduling.
Sohar Aluminium, Vale Oman and Sohar Refinery shift patterns shape family timetables. We schedule Biology sessions around Ramadan ~3-hour days, Eid, Renaissance Day, Oman National Day and parent site rosters — and back-plan toward SQU, Sohar University, UCAS and IIT-route deadlines.
Mrs Fatma Al Balushi, parent
AP Biology · Sohar International School (SISO) · Sohar
My son needed Biology support for SISO Year 13 mocks and we could not find an in-person specialist anywhere in Sohar. Online with Combo Tutors got him from a C to an A and into Sohar University Engineering.
Mr Vinod Krishnan, parent (Sohar Aluminium engineer)
AP Biology · Indian School Sohar (Falaj Al Qabail) · Sohar
Working shifts at Sohar Aluminium meant I could not run after Muscat tutors. Combo Tutors fitted Biology sessions around Ramadan and my roster — my daughter moved up two grades at Indian School Sohar.
Mr Imran Khan, parent (Sohar Refinery engineer)
AP Biology · Cambridge School Sohar · Sohar
We are at Sohar Refinery and wanted Biology prep strong enough for both SQU and a UK Russell Group backup. The past-paper and examiner-style drilling at Cambridge School Sohar level was the difference.

Parent of IB Student · London
My daughter was struggling with IB Mathematics HL and had almost given up hope of getting a 7. After just two months of weekly sessions with her Combo Tutors tutor, her confidence soared and she went from a predicted 4 to a final grade of 6. The personalised approach made all the difference—her tutor identified exactly where the gaps were and worked through them systematically.
James P.
Parent of A-Level Student · Manchester
My son started tutoring for A-Level Physics about three months before his exams. His tutor was incredibly patient and broke down complex topics like electromagnetic induction into simple, intuitive steps. He ended up getting an A* which we genuinely didn't think was possible. I'd recommend Combo Tutors to any parent who wants a tutor that actually cares about your child's progress.
Priya K.
Parent of GCSE Student · Birmingham
We needed help with GCSE Science for my son who found chemistry particularly challenging. His tutor made the sessions engaging and relatable—using real-world examples that finally made reactions and bonding click for him. He improved by two grades and, more importantly, actually enjoys science now.
AP Biology in Sohar
SISO sits Cambridge for AP Biology — Cambridge IGCSE 0580-family codes and Cambridge International A-Level 9709 / 9702 / 9701-family codes depending on the subject. Cambridge School Sohar, MKS Sohar and MEC also run the Cambridge pathway. We match tutors to the exact Cambridge paper and tier your child is sitting.
Yes. Indian School Sohar in Falaj Al Qabail runs CBSE as the main programme, with a selective Cambridge IGCSE cohort. Our Biology tutors cover both — CBSE Class 9 / 10 / 11 / 12 boards and Cambridge IGCSE / A-Level — and can bridge a Sohar student moving between the two ahead of SQU, Sohar University or Indian engineering admissions.
Vale Oman, Sohar Aluminium and Sohar Refinery parents are often on rotating site rosters. We book AP Biology sessions in Oman time (GMT+4), work around Ramadan's ~3-hour school day, Eid, Renaissance Day (23 July) and Oman National Day (18 November), and send a weekly parent summary so the off-shift parent stays in the loop.
Yes. We match Sohar students targeting Sultan Qaboos University, Sohar University, UK Russell Group or Indian IITs to Biology tutors who know each pathway's grade expectations — SQU and Sohar University predicted-grade timelines, UCAS predictions, and JEE-parallel depth for IIT-route candidates.
All Combo Tutors AP Biology lessons for Sohar families are online 1-to-1 in Oman time. Because Sohar is ~240km from Muscat, an in-person specialist commute is not realistic — online is the only way to give Batinah families full access to Muscat-grade, UK examiner-level and IIT-trained Biology tutors.
