The Pearl-Qatar — the 4 sq km artificial island launched in 2009, split across Porto Arabia, Viva Bahriya, Qanat Quartier, Costa Malaz and Floresta Gardens — has zero on-island schools, so every Pearl IGCSE family commutes outward: roughly 20 minutes via the Lusail Expressway to Doha College (Al Waab), 25 minutes to American School of Doha (Al Gharrafa) and another 25 minutes to Park House English School. IGCSE Business Studies sits Cambridge 0580/0625-series at Doha College and Compass International School Doha, and Edexcel at Park House. The Pearl's heavy European and Levantine demographic — French families anchored to Lycée Voltaire, Italian families at the Italian Embassy School, Lebanese families at the Lebanese School of Doha — also bridges into IGCSE Business Studies mid-cycle when executive parents rotate postings. Our Pearl IGCSE Business Studies tutors match the Qatar Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) calendar — Ramadan, Eid, and Qatar National Day on 18 December — and remove the daily ferry-and-causeway commute entirely.
Tell us what your child needs and we'll match a UK-qualified Business Studies specialist in The Pearl within 24 hours.
Exam boards we cover
The dominant IGCSE syllabus across the off-island MoEHE-licensed British curriculum schools serving Pearl-Qatar families — Doha College (Al Waab, 20 minutes via Lusail Expressway), Compass International School Doha and the Cambridge stream at Park House. Extended tier is required for any student progressing to A-Level Business Studies.
Used by Edexcel-aligned British curriculum schools in and around The Pearl. Higher tier broadly comparable to Cambridge Extended, with slightly different question phrasing.
A smaller cohort of The Pearl students sit Oxford AQA International GCSE — particularly those moving between UK and Qatar schools mid-cycle.

What we fix
How we fix it:The Pearl has zero K-12 schools on the island, so every family commutes 20-45 minutes off-causeway to Al Waab (Doha College, Park House), Al Gharrafa (ASD) or Al Luqta (Qatar Academy), with traffic spiking at school-run hours along Lusail Expressway. Online 1-to-1 Business Studies lessons remove the second commute and let Pearl students start revision the moment they get home.
How we fix it:Pearl families rotate between Lycée Voltaire (French Bac), the Italian Embassy School (Italian Diploma), the Lebanese School of Doha and the British/American mainstream — often mid-cycle when an executive posting extends. We bridge Business Studies content across French, Italian, Lebanese, Cambridge, Edexcel, IB and AP frameworks rather than re-teaching from scratch, and align the next sitting to the family's likely destination.
How we fix it:Doha College runs January A-Level mocks; Qatar Academy runs February IB DP mocks; ASD runs March AP mocks — all three cluster within the Pearl commute radius. We run a 6-8 week Business Studies mock-prep block built from each host school's previous mock paper plus the official Cambridge, Edexcel, IB or College Board past papers most likely to recur.
How we fix it:Pearl families typically rotate every 2-4 years, with mid-year arrivals and departures driven by parental contracts at QatarEnergy, Qatar Foundation and the European executive sector. We onboard new Pearl arrivals into Business Studies fast — diagnostic in week one, gap-close plan in weeks two-six — and we keep continuity for outgoing families who carry the same tutor into their next posting.
How we fix it:Pearl summers push 45°C+ from June to September, and the long August-start to early-July school year leaves a brutal study gap. Online Business Studies sessions run from the air-conditioned Porto Arabia, Viva Bahriya or Qanat Quartier apartment without the cross-Doha Bay commute, and we structure a June–August schedule that keeps September pace.
Why Combo Tutors
Pearl-Qatar's European and Levantine families regularly pivot Business Studies between Lycée Voltaire's French Bac, the Italian Embassy School's Diploma, the Lebanese School of Doha, Cambridge IGCSE 0580/9709, Edexcel International, IB DP HL/SL and College Board AP. We match a tutor who has taught both the origin and the destination curriculum and bridges the content without restarting.
Online 1-to-1 Business Studies lessons let Pearl students study from Porto Arabia, Viva Bahriya or Qanat Quartier without the 20-45 minute Lusail Expressway round trip to Al Waab, Al Gharrafa or Al Luqta. Lessons schedule into Qatar time (AST, GMT+3) and flex around Ramadan, Eid and Qatar National Day on 18 December.
We support 2-4 year executive rotations the way diplomatic families work — continuity tutors who follow the family across postings, Business Studies pacing aligned to the next destination's exam board, and explicit coordination with Lycée Voltaire, the Italian Embassy School and the Lebanese School of Doha alongside Doha College, ASD and Qatar Academy.
Mme Sophie Laurent, parent
IGCSE Business Studies · Doha College (Al Waab) via Lycée Voltaire · Porto Arabia, The Pearl
My daughter moved from Lycée Voltaire into Doha College Year 12 with a heavy gap in Business Studies between the French Bac and Cambridge specs. The tutor mapped both syllabi in week one and rebuilt her exam technique before the January mocks. A*A*A and into Sciences Po dual with LSE.
Sig. Marco Rossi, parent
IGCSE Business Studies · American School of Doha (ASD, Al Gharrafa) via Italian Embassy School · Viva Bahriya, The Pearl
We rotated from Milan to The Pearl mid-Year 11 and my son needed to convert Italian Diploma Business Studies into AP for his ASD application. Combo Tutors bridged the content, drilled official released FRQs and timed everything around ASD's March mock. AP 5 and a Northwestern Qatar admit.
Mr Karim Hage, parent
IGCSE Business Studies HL · Qatar Academy Doha (Al Luqta, Qatar Foundation) via Lebanese School of Doha · Qanat Quartier, The Pearl
My posting was extended another two years and my daughter consolidated from the Lebanese School of Doha into Qatar Academy IB DP Business Studies HL. The tutor knew the Qatar Foundation predicted-grade rhythm and the February mock paper, and worked around our Qanat Quartier schedule. Final 42/45 and into Weill Cornell-Qatar.
Sarah M.
Parent of IB Student · London
My daughter was struggling with IB Mathematics HL and had almost given up hope of getting a 7. After just two months of weekly sessions with her Combo Tutors tutor, her confidence soared and she went from a predicted 4 to a final grade of 6. The personalised approach made all the difference—her tutor identified exactly where the gaps were and worked through them systematically.
James P.
Parent of A-Level Student · Manchester
My son started tutoring for A-Level Physics about three months before his exams. His tutor was incredibly patient and broke down complex topics like electromagnetic induction into simple, intuitive steps. He ended up getting an A* which we genuinely didn't think was possible. I'd recommend Combo Tutors to any parent who wants a tutor that actually cares about your child's progress.
Priya K.
Parent of GCSE Student · Birmingham
We needed help with GCSE Science for my son who found chemistry particularly challenging. His tutor made the sessions engaging and relatable—using real-world examples that finally made reactions and bonding click for him. He improved by two grades and, more importantly, actually enjoys science now.
IGCSE Business Studies in The Pearl
Pearl-Qatar has no on-island schools, so most IGCSE Business Studies students commute 20-25 minutes via Lusail Expressway to Doha College (Al Waab) for Cambridge, Park House English School (Al Waab) for Edexcel, American School of Doha (Al Gharrafa) for AP or IB DP, and Qatar Academy Doha (Al Luqta, Qatar Foundation) for IB DP. French Pearl families generally route to Lycée Voltaire and Italian and Lebanese families to their respective embassy schools.
Yes. Pearl-Qatar's French executive families anchored at Lycée Voltaire and Levantine families at the Lebanese School of Doha and the Italian Embassy School are a routine part of our caseload. We match tutors who have taught Business Studies in both the origin curriculum (French Bac, Lebanese curriculum, Italian Diploma) and the British or American destination, so the bridge is smooth.
We run a content-map diagnostic in week one comparing the Business Studies syllabus the Pearl student has already covered at Lycée Voltaire, the Italian Embassy School or the Lebanese School of Doha against Cambridge 0580/9709 or Edexcel International. Gaps close in weeks two-six, then we shift to past-paper and FRQ drilling against the destination board, sequenced around Doha College, Park House, ASD or Qatar Academy mock dates.
All IGCSE Business Studies lessons run online in Qatar time (AST, GMT+3), so Pearl students log on from Porto Arabia, Viva Bahriya, Qanat Quartier, Costa Malaz or Floresta Gardens straight after the school commute home — no second trip back across Doha Bay. Sessions flex around Ramadan shortened hours, Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha and Qatar National Day on 18 December.
Yes — we align IGCSE Business Studies sessions to the host school's scheme of work and mock window (Doha College January A-Level mocks, Qatar Academy February IB mocks, ASD March AP mocks, Park House and Compass internal cycles), and we send a weekly Pearl-family summary in Qatar time so parents can sync with the school's reporting cycle and any rotational posting plans.
IGCSE Business Studies tutoring for Pearl-Qatar families starts from QAR 180/hour at IGCSE and A-Level standard tier, and from QAR 220/hour for AP and IB DP HL with examiner-level specialists. Pearl billing supports diplomatic-style allowances and corporate invoicing; the first trial lesson is free, billing is monthly in QAR, and there are no minimum-term contracts to accommodate 2-4 year executive rotations.
