Roughly a quarter of sixth-formers in Cambridge apply to Oxbridge, and the December interview window at Trinity, King's, Churchill and St John's is the single sharpest pressure point in UK school life. Hills Road Sixth Form College — repeatedly the country's top-performing state college and an AQA-dominant Oxbridge feeder — sets the local A-Level benchmark in Computer Science, alongside The Perse School (A-Level), The Leys School and Long Road Sixth Form College. With OCR's headquarters in Cambridge, OCR Computer Science sits beside AQA, Edexcel and Cambridge International. Our A-Level Computer Science tutors are PhD-level Cambridge alumni and examiners who layer TMUA, ESAT, STEP I/II/III, NSAA, PAT and (where relevant) MAT, BMAT, HAT, MLAT, OLAT, TSA and LNAT preparation against the December interview cycle and June linear papers.
Tell us what your child needs and we'll match a UK-qualified Computer Science specialist in Cambridge within 24 hours.
Exam boards we cover
Run alongside the student's current sixth-form qualification and AQA / Edexcel A-Levels at Hills Road Sixth Form College, Long Road Sixth Form College and The Leys School — the dominant Oxbridge-feeder route in Cambridge. Linear AS + A2 structure with strong international university recognition.
Used by some Cambridge British curriculum schools. Modular structure means students can resit individual units — useful for Cambridge students balancing UCAS and US applications.
Smaller uptake, but offered by some schools serving Cambridge families repatriating to the UK.

What we fix
How we fix it:Around 25–30% of senior students in Cambridge apply to Oxbridge. We layer Computer Science sessions against the October 15 UCAS deadline, November admissions tests (TMUA, ESAT, NSAA, PAT), December college interviews at Trinity, King's and St John's, and post-offer STEP I/II/III preparation through January–June.
How we fix it:The Perse School and The Stephen Perse Foundation run mock weeks in late January with results fed directly into predicted grades and Oxbridge references. We back-plan Computer Science revision blocks against each school's exact paper schedule and examiner.
How we fix it:IB DP candidates at The Stephen Perse Foundation and The Leys School hit IA drafts in Year 12 Term 3 and final EE submission in Year 13 Term 1. We supervise Computer Science IAs and EEs to IB-criterion standard without crossing the authenticity line.
How we fix it:Hills Road is one of the UK's largest Oxbridge feeders — internal competition for the top Computer Science grades is brutal. Our examiner-level tutors specialise in the AQA and Edexcel papers Hills Road uses and the STEP/TMUA/ESAT overlay.
Why Combo Tutors
Our Cambridge Computer Science tutors are matched to the exact route a student is sitting — the student's current sixth-form qualification, AQA A-Level at Hills Road, IB DP at Stephen Perse or The Leys — and to the exact examiner who marks those papers.
For Oxbridge-bound Computer Science students we layer admissions-test prep (TMUA, ESAT, STEP, NSAA, PAT, MAT) and December college interview practice against schoolwork — not bolted on at the end.
Personal in-home tutors in Cambridge routinely charge £60–100/hour. Our online 1-to-1 Computer Science tuition with PhD researchers and current examiners starts at £11/hour with the first lesson free.
Mrs Catherine Whittaker
A-Level Computer Science · The Perse School, Cambridge
Our son sat Computer Science at The Perse and was offered a place at Trinity College Cambridge after his December interview. The TMUA and STEP work the tutor did with him from Year 12 made the difference.
Dr James Robertson
A-Level Computer Science · The Stephen Perse Foundation, Cambridge
Stephen Perse IB Computer Science HL with a strong IA and EE — the tutor knew the IB criteria cold and worked around our December Cambridge interview prep at the same time.

A-Level Computer Science · Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge
I was at Hills Road sitting AQA Computer Science and applying to Cambridge for Natural Sciences. Examiner-level tutoring plus ESAT and NSAA prep got me an A* and an offer.

My daughter was struggling with IB Mathematics HL and had almost given up hope of getting a 7. After just two months of weekly sessions with her Combo Tutors tutor, her confidence soared and she went from a predicted 4 to a final grade of 6. The personalised approach made all the difference—her tutor identified exactly where the gaps were and worked through them systematically.

Parent of A-Level Student · Manchester
My son started tutoring for A-Level Physics about three months before his exams. His tutor was incredibly patient and broke down complex topics like electromagnetic induction into simple, intuitive steps. He ended up getting an A* which we genuinely didn't think was possible. I'd recommend Combo Tutors to any parent who wants a tutor that actually cares about your child's progress.

Parent of GCSE Student · Birmingham
We needed help with GCSE Science for my son who found chemistry particularly challenging. His tutor made the sessions engaging and relatable—using real-world examples that finally made reactions and bonding click for him. He improved by two grades and, more importantly, actually enjoys science now.
