IGCSE Accounting Tutors for Cambridge 0452 & Edexcel 4AC1 in Dubai

Your child can state the rule and still get the entry wrong under time pressure. One wrong side carries through the trial balance, the adjustments and every figure in the financial statements. We match them with a one-to-one online tutor for their exact course: Cambridge 0452 and 0985, Edexcel 4AC1 or OxfordAQA 9215. Each board weights its papers differently, so revision follows the paper your child actually sits. Lessons start with a free diagnostic, build a plan back from the exam entry, then work through past papers marked to the official mark scheme, online on UAE time after school and at weekends. No card. No contract.

Why Dubai students

Why the Board Decides the Revision Plan

IGCSE Accounting is not one exam. Cambridge puts 70% of the grade on one structured paper, Edexcel 66.6% on a bookkeeping paper and a third on financial statements, and OxfordAQA weights its two papers evenly. Before choosing what to drill, a tutor should confirm the board, syllabus code, exam series, current grade and target grade.

Cambridge IGCSE Accounting

0452, 0985

Two papers, no Core or Extended tiers. Paper 1 is multiple choice (1 h 15, 35 marks, 30%). Paper 2 is structured written (1 h 45, 100 marks, 70%) with five 20-mark questions covering cash books, ledger accounts, journals and financial statements. 0452 is graded A*–G and 0985 on the 9–1 scale. From 2027, Paper 1 becomes 1 h 30 and 40 marks (40 questions); Paper 2 is unchanged.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Accounting

4AC1

Graded 9–1, single tier. Paper 1 Introduction to Bookkeeping and Accounting is 2 hours and 100 marks, worth 66.6%. Paper 2 Financial Statements is 1 h 15 and 50 marks, worth 33.3%. Sat in the January and June series.

OxfordAQA International GCSE Accounting

9215

Graded 9–1, first examined in May/June 2026. Two papers of 1 h 45 and 75 marks each, evenly weighted: Introduction to Book-keeping and Financial Accounting, then Financial Statements. Each opens with multiple choice and short answers before three structured questions.

Cambridge IGCSE Accounting Changes From 2027

Students sitting Cambridge IGCSE Accounting from 2027 follow an updated syllabus, so revising from older notes can mean revising topics that have moved. Cambridge has added or updated:

  • ethical considerations in accounting
  • the impact of technology on accounting
  • sustainability
  • updated accounting ratios
  • closer alignment with Cambridge AS & A Level Accounting 9706

The multiple-choice paper also grows from 35 questions in 1 h 15 to 40 questions in 1 h 30, while the structured paper stays at 1 h 45 and 100 marks. That changes which past papers are still safe to use and which ratio practice is current, so we confirm your child's exam year before choosing any resource. Check the official Cambridge IGCSE Accounting 0452 syllabus for the current requirements.

What we fix

Where IGCSE Accounting Students Lose Marks

01

Double entry breaking under time pressure

One wrong side carries through every figure that follows in the structured paper.

How tutoring helps:Rehearse the debit and credit rule on real past-paper transactions until it holds at speed.

02

Adjustments posted to the wrong account

Accruals, prepayments, depreciation and provisions land in the wrong place, so the financial statements are built on a bad base.

How tutoring helps:Drill the adjustments as a fixed routine, so each one lands in the right account before the statements are built.

03

Ratios calculated but never interpreted

The number earns little. What it says about profitability or liquidity, and what the business should do, carries the marks.

How tutoring helps:Practise writing the sentence after the number every time a ratio is calculated.

04

Running out of time on the structured paper

Five 20-mark questions in 1 h 45 for Cambridge, or two hours on Edexcel Paper 1, leave little room for slow starts.

How tutoring helps:Work to the clock on full papers, so pacing is settled before the exam.

From Bookkeeping Confusion to Independent Exam Answers

A student who has lost confidence does not need more full past papers. They need the steps in order.

Each topic moves through six steps:

  • Understand: why the entry is correct, not just that it is
  • Record: post the transaction accurately
  • Connect: see how that entry affects every other account
  • Prepare: carry it into the financial statements
  • Interpret: say what the numbers mean
  • Perform: do all five to the clock, alone

Most students who are stuck are trying to do step 6 without step 1. We start where the gap actually is.

What Dubai Families Say

Reviews from Dubai IGCSE Accounting students and parents.

Aisha R.

Parent of IGCSE Student · Jumeirah, Dubai

My daughter was finding IGCSE Accounting difficult, especially double-entry bookkeeping and preparing financial statements. Her tutor explained each topic step by step and used past-paper questions regularly. Within a few weeks, she became much more confident and started making fewer mistakes in her school assessments.

Yusuf M.

IGCSE Student · Dubai Marina, Dubai

I needed help with IGCSE Accounting before my exams, particularly with trial balances, depreciation and income statements. The tutor was very patient and focused on the areas I was struggling with instead of just going through the textbook. My understanding and exam technique improved a lot.

Common Questions.

Tutor matching covers Cambridge IGCSE Accounting 0452 and its 9–1 version 0985, Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Accounting 4AC1 and OxfordAQA International GCSE Accounting 9215. Share the school and syllabus code when you book. To compare boards first, read our guide to online IGCSE tutoring in the UAE.

No. Unlike Cambridge sciences, Accounting 0452 has no Core or Extended split: every candidate sits the same two papers. 0985 is the same subject content graded on the 9–1 scale, and your child's school chooses which to enter.

Cambridge puts 70% of the grade on one 1 h 45 structured paper, with a multiple-choice paper alongside. Edexcel puts 66.6% on a two-hour Paper 1 and 33.3% on a shorter financial statements paper. OxfordAQA weights its two 75-mark papers evenly. Revision priorities differ accordingly.

Yes. Lesson planning and resources follow your child's actual exam year, not whichever syllabus the textbook was printed for.

The arithmetic is basic: addition, subtraction and percentages. The real difficulty is logic, knowing why a transaction is a debit here and a credit there, and what an adjustment does to the final accounts. Students who struggle in maths often do well once that logic clicks.

That depends on where the marks are going: bookkeeping accuracy, adjustments, financial statements, interpretation or timing. The free trial identifies which, and lessons target that rather than re-teaching the course.

It depends on the board. Edexcel sits in January as well as June, so an Edexcel candidate's exam can land just as Term 2 begins in early January. Cambridge sits June or November, and OxfordAQA from May/June 2026. We plan backwards from the entry, and re-pace lessons around Ramadan, when Dubai schools often shorten the day.

Lessons are live one-to-one online on UAE time, so students in any Dubai area can join after school or at weekends. The same applies across our other online tutors in Dubai.
